Prior to earning his Ph.D. in civil engineering at Purdue University in 2005, he served for six years as a project engineer and cost engineer for Daewoo Engineering & Construction Company in Seoul, South Korea. Dr. Jeong has been affiliated with CII since 2007, having served as a principal investigator on Research Team 253, Estimating as a Competency in Capital Projects.

Dr. Jeong has skillfully developed teaching materials based on the findings and implementation tools of several CII research projects including front end planning, PDRI, team alignment, industrial modularization, cost estimating competencies, early cost estimating, and project complexity. His students have enjoyed and benefited from learning the latest industry practices, recent advancements and case studies to prepare them for successful professional careers. He is an active implementer of “team-based learning” and “hybrid learning.” His undergraduate course at the senior level is now delivered through the hybrid learning system which stimulates students’ learning via a series of active learning based group assignments. To transform a traditional course into an effective hybrid course, Dr. Jeong has worked with industry practitioners and used CII research findings to develop realistic in-class group assignments. Dr. Jeong is a passionate teacher who understands the value of CII research and leverages CII research as a practical link between theory and real practices.
