Wesley A. Collins

CII is pleased to bestow the 2015 Outstanding Graduate Research Assistant Award to Wesley Collins for his valuable contributions to Research Team 314, The Project Definition Rating Index (PDRI) for Small Industrial Projects (SIP). Having begun his doctoral program at Arizona State University with past work experience in the construction industry, Collins had a well-rounded approach that added immense value to the research effort. His quick acclimation to the CII research model and his thorough, yet speedy, review of the literature enabled the team to get down to the work of developing a new PDRI within six months of its kickoff meeting.

After the team had completed its data collection, Collins performed all data analysis efforts, including those on the initial survey. He went above and beyond the call of duty, completing the required analysis, and then performing alternative analyses to give the team confidence in its conclusions—even though they varied from those of previous PDRI tools. He also leveraged his data analysis skills to develop a tool that helps users determine which PDRI they should use for their industrial projects: the PDRI–Industrial or the PDRI-SIP. Wes also contributed significantly to the team’s publication efforts, providing insightful content to the documents, compiling, re-formatting, and re-typing drafts for review, and then quickly responding to reviewers’ comments for timely resubmissions. In addition to his remarkable intelligence, experience, and skills, Collins’ engaging personal style made him an invaluable asset to the project.

Please join CII in congratulating Wes Collins for winning the 2015 CII Outstanding Graduate Research Assistant Award.
