Course Description

The course presents 14 constructability concepts that can be used in company-level and project-level constructability programs. Participants analyze practical examples of constructability implementation programs.

W. Edward Back, Ph.D., University of Alabama

Ed BackDr. W. Edward Back is a member of the Civil Engineering faculty of the University of Alabama, where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in project management and construction engineering. Ed has been an active researcher with CII in the areas of information management, work process modeling and simulation, on-site design evaluation, and various aspects of contract administration.

Ed was the 1999 recipient of CII’s Outstanding Researcher Award. Ed has also conducted over 100 CII training sessions during the last five years, teaching approximately 2000 industry professionals about CII principals and Best Practices. He received CII’s Outstanding Instructor Award in 2001. He has authored articles on a wide variety of project management subjects, maintains an active research program, provides industry consulting, and was honored in 2000 and 2002 with Clemson University’s Award for Faculty Excellence.

Ed holds graduate degrees in both Civil Engineering and Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois. He received his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from Clemson University.
