Joe Dorsch

Chair of the CII Board of Advisors

Joseph “Joe” Dorsch is the 2020 Chair of the CII Executive Committee. He has been a member of the CII Board of Advisors since 2011. He has more than 30 years of experience in major project construction, leading organizations and projects which received multiple internal and Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) awards for safety. Dorsch works for Houston-based LyondellBasell, one of the largest plastics, chemicals, and refining companies in the world, as the project director for its propylene oxide (PO) and tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) project currently under construction in the Houston area. He joined the company in 2016.

Prior to joining LyondellBasell, Dorsch worked for DuPont for more than 25 years serving in various roles of increasing responsibility. His most recent role was global construction manager and he was responsible for roughly $1.5 billion annually in capital projects across all industrial sites as well as all personnel in the construction function, center of competency leadership and contractor safety.

Dorsch is experienced in all facets of project execution from conceptual planning through start-up and commissioning and is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. He has served as president of the University of Houston’s Industrial Advisory Board and has been engaged in several leadership positions with CII and CURT throughout his career.

Dorsch holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University and resides in Cypress, Texas, with his wife and three children.
