The Scalable AWP Model was released by the Construction Owners Association of Alberta (COAA) in May of 2019. The model is the result of three years of research conducted by a team of 40 industry professionals. Prior to release, the model was reviewed by the Construction Industry Institute (CII) and it has been issued as a recommended practice by COAA. The model recommends how projects under $100 million should be managed. The model adheres to the principles of AWP but provides recommendations for how the practices should be adapted. To accelerate the development and adoption of Scalable AWP, owner-led teams in Canada and the United States were formed to develop new tools and resources. There are four teams in Canada (Cenovus, Enmax, NOVA Chemicals and Dow Chemical Company) and four owner-led teams in the United States (Dow, Shell, Eastman and Southern Company) working on this project. Each team is balanced by key stakeholders representing engineers, constructors, the technology providers and implementation support experts. The findings will be presented at AWP Summits on Scalability to be held in Houston, Texas and Calgary, AB. All deliverables will be provided to COAA and CII for an update to the Scalable AWP Model. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn about Scalable AWP, get early access to new resources and contribute to the industry-wide AWP body of knowledge. Register now at awpsummit.com.
