How do I participate on a research team?

Team nominations must be submitted by a member company's Board member. If you are interested in a team, please contact your CII Board Member.

Who is the Board of Advisor for my company?

The Board of Advisors represents senior management of CII member companies and provides oversight for all CII activities. If you do not know who your company's Board Member is, please contact Kristi Delaney.

What is the typical time committment for research team?

Most projects are completed in 27 months, but there may be special circumstances that may shorten or lengthen the schedule.

What is the makeup of a research team?

Each research team is made up of one or more Principal Investigator (PI) and ideally, ten Owner company members and ten Contractor company members.

What are the expectations of research team members?

The roles and responsibilities of team members includes:

  • Actively participate in the development and execution of the team work plan
  • Contribute the domain elements of research to ensure the practical significance and industry benefit of the research effort
  • Make intellectual contributions to the RT work
  • Responsibility to represent their company, their company category (owner/contractor) and the industry in research team deliberations and data collection efforts, to benefit their company and the industry as a whole.
  • Serve as a liaison between the company and the research team to acquire information to support the research as appropriate.
  • Host RT meetings when requested.
  • Participate in the development and presentation of team products.
  • Commit to the success of the RT.

Where does CII publish research summaries and reports?

Most research publications are available to CII members at no cost. Hard copies are available for a nominal fee. Non-CII members can obtain copies of the reports at non-member prices published on the CII website. Academics qualify to purchase reports at the member fee rates.

Is it important to have a member on the team who has worked in the same area as the submitted topic?

It is best to have a member on the team who has worked on the submitted topic area and a member who has worked on a CII project. However, it depends heavily on the proposal topic.

Where does CII published their research reports?

All research reports are published and available to CII members. Non-CII members can obtain copies of the reports at non-member prices from the CII website. Academics qualify to purchase reports at member rates and are afforded access to the CII knowledgebase during their research. See CII’s website for additional information.
