This research team analyzed and documented the array of uses for design models to be leveraged in the construction stage to support field construction tasks. The team identified 30 model uses, as well as model use progressions in which the information is transferred or modified to use it for additional construction model uses. The team further captured the value, difficulty, and status of adoption for each model use across construction sectors. Derived from the model uses and progression research, the team developed a guide to help project teams identify and plan the implementation of the model uses, and the methods to bring the models and information into the field to support the workforce. Implementation Resource (IR) 324-2, Using Models in Construction: A Planning Guide, provides a four-step process for setting goals for using models, identifying the model uses needed, designing the process, and determining the infrastructure needed. Templates are also provided to suppor the planning and documentation of the process. IR324-2 includes the following tools: • Construction Model Use Planning Guide • One-page descriptions for each model use
