CII’s New Executive Director Mike Pappas Starts November

Dear CII Community,
 
We are pleased to announce that Mike Pappas, Ph.D., PE has accepted the position of Executive Director of CII, effective November 1, 2025.

Mike currently serves as the Project Management Program Director at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). He has 35 years of diverse capital project experience, including 10 years of field experience managing domestic and international construction projects and facilities programs. 

Mike also brings a unique combination of industry insight, academic excellence, and deep familiarity with CII. He earned his Ph.D. and M.S.E. in Civil Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, where he studied under CII’s founder, Dr. Richard Tucker. From 2017 – 2021, he served as an Associate Director at CII.

Prior to his graduate work, Dr. Pappas earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla and was later elected to the Missouri University of Science & Technology Academy of Civil Engineers in 2020. Mike is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering, as well as a licensed professional engineer in the State of Missouri.

Mike’s experience, passion for CII’s mission, and his commitment to its success make him exceptionally well-positioned to lead the organization into a bright and impactful future.

The entire CII community would like to recognize Jamie Gerbrecht for setting CII up for success over the last three years. CII members, the staff, and UT leadership are deeply grateful to Jamie for his hands-on approach to supporting staff and members throughout his tenure. Jamie’s time with us will leave a lasting impact!
