Craftforce Playbook: How Construction Industry Pioneers Are Building a Sustainable Craft Workforce

The construction industry faces significant shortage of skilled craft professionals, creating challenges for project delivery, infrastructure development, and long-term industry growth. To identify effective workforce development practices, Construction Industry Institute (CII) Research Team 436 interviewed contractors, owners, and a union, then developed ten case studies that demonstrate successful approaches to recruiting, developing, engaging, and retaining the construction craft workforce. 

In this webinar, members of RT-436 will review the implementation resource which details the case studies. The case studies demonstrate practical applications ranging from mental health initiatives and recognition programs to mobile training facilities, virtual reality learning, structured talent reviews, and workforce engagement systems. Collectively, the findings show that integrating workforce development into organizational operations improves engagement, retention, training effectiveness, and alignment between workforce capability and specific project requirements.
