The CII Funded Studies Committee (FSC) is a group of dedicated member volunteers who guide the development and oversight of CII’s research portfolio. Their mission is to ensure that CII’s investments in research deliver maximum value to the capital projects industry. Their work ensures that research is not only academically sound but also relevant to industry needs.

What the Committee Does

The committee plays a strategic and foundational role in shaping and supporting research efforts across CII. Key activities include:
  • Designing the Ideation Process: The committee oversees the process through which research ideas are collected from the CII community, ensuring broad participation and alignment with industry needs.
  • Providing Feedback to Research Teams: Members participate in progress reviews, offering guidance to research teams to help keep projects on track.
  • Ensuring the Quality of Research Deliverables: The committee members evaluate outputs such as publications and presentations to ensure clarity, quality, and relevance.

How the Committee Works with Other CII Groups

The Funded Studies Committee works closely with other CII groups as follows to ensure research is impactful and widely disseminated. The FSC members:
  • Collaborate with Communities for Business Advancement (CBAs) and individual members to capture new research topics.
  • Support workshops at the CII Board of Advisors (BOA) meeting and process BOA feedback to consolidate it into actionable information.
  • Collaborate with leaders from CII committees and the Board of Advisors to assess and prioritize research proposals.
  • Collaborate with the CII Deployment Committee to ensure research findings reach the right audiences and drive industry change.
  • Collaborate with the CII Technology Committee to capture technology-centric R&D ideas and promote awareness of emerging technologies related to ongoing and completed studies.
  • Collaborates with the CII Executive Committee to ensure that initiatives are aligned with CII’s strategy and goals.
